Walking Tours: Berlin, Germany
I took two walking tours while I was in Berlin. The first one I took was their free walking tour. This tour started us at the Brandenburg Gate in Pariser Platz, followed by Hotel Adlon (made infamous when Michael Jackson dangled his baby out of one of the windows) and the haunting Holocaust Memorial, and then to Checkpoint Charlie (highly overhyped in my opinion) and Bebelplatz which is the place of the memorial to the Nazi book burnings. The free walking tour that Sandeman's offers makes a great starting point to set the rest of your time in Berlin.
I ended up taking a second walking that tour after the first one. This one was the Alternative City Tour which took us to the street art, graffiti and some of Berlin's coolest districts. Some of the places we went to and things we saw included Dead Chicken Alley, The Cosmonaut, and the East Side Gallery. This one was a much more relaxed tour with most attendees in their early to mid-twenties and probably one of my favorite tours during my entire trip.
Walking tours are a great starting point in any city and I would highly recommend joining one if you are pressed for time in a new city.
