Vienna, Austria: Schönbrunn Palace & Vienna State Opera House
It's been about two months since I've returned from my vacation in Europe so I've decided to start writing about my trip beginning with one of my favorite places: Vienna. Vienna is a gorgeous and elegant city, rich with history and culture. Head over to Cafe Tirolerhof for a nice latte and homemade apple strudel in the morning and make your way to the Schönbrunn Palace afterwards. The Schönbrunn Palace with it's incredible architecture and vast gardens is worth a visit. Take at least 2-3 hours to wander around the gardens, have a duck through the maze and climb up to The Gloriette for the best view of the estate.
While in Vienna, take the opportunity to see one of their famed operas at the Vienna State Opera House. There are plenty of standing room tickets that are made available shortly before the opera begins. Arrive about 90 minutes before the show time and stand in line for tickets that only cost 3-4 Euros. Get there earlier to get a premium spot in the standing room area and be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Your feet will hurt by the end of the opera but the experience is well worth it. Make sure to head over to the Bitzinger Würstelstand right outside the Opera House during intermissions for a filling (and inexpensive!) meal.
